South Coast karateka excel at Arnold Classic

It was an amazing event and Karate South Africa had the honour of holding a much-anticipated karate competition at the festival.

Hot off the heels of their AUSC Region Championship, four karateka from Suid Natal Martial Arts Academy attended the much anticipated Arnold Classic Sports Festival held at Ruimsig Stadium in Roodepoort, Johannesburg last week.

The Arnold Classic had a new look to the festival in the way of an outdoor tented event this year, to alleviate issues with regard to crowds and indoor events due to current Covid regulations in South Africa.

It was an amazing event and Karate South Africa had the honour of holding a much-anticipated karate competition at the festival.

Four karateka from the dojo had the honour of obtaining medals at this year’s event, once again holding the region’s name up high in the karate fraternity.

Tyler Hogan received gold in U21 kata and bronze in the senior kata division.

Blake Hogan won gold in the 12/13 kumite as did Jayden Oosthuizen in the 10/11 kumite.

Giancarlo Ferrante earned bronze in the 10/11 kumite.
