Lass aims for national pageant crown

The Gamalakhe Commercial High School grade 10 pupil added that she wants to use the pageant's platform to prove that although you may come from a disadvantaged background, you can still be a national queen and you can still be able to inspire others to believe in themselves.

Model, Sindiswa Gumede, is gunning for the Miss National South Africa crown. The 14-year-old who was named one of the pageant finalists needs sponsorship for a dress to wear for the finals and accommodation.

The Miss National South Africa will be held in Durban from August 26 to 28. According to the organisers, the pageant is aimed at creating sisterhood and future leaders, inspiring the youth, and empowering women. It is also a foundation phase for the official Miss South Africa.

Gumede said her passion for modelling started in 2019 while she was still in primary school. “I was named Miss Ugu Royal Heart Junior in 2019. I was also named Miss Born to Rule Junior second princess in 2019. Also, in 2020 I was crowned Miss Summer Ent. Festival Junior Queen 2020, Miss Port Shepstone 2020 Junior, Miss Ibhodwe lethelente Junior Queen, Queen of Margate second princess, Queen of Margate popularity 2021. Winning these titles gave me the confidence to continue pursuing my dreams,” she said.

The Gamalakhe Commercial High School grade 10 pupil added that she wants to use the pageant’s platform to prove that although you may come from a disadvantaged background, you can still be a national queen and you can still be able to inspire others to believe in themselves.

The teenager said although she has always wanted to be a model, she wants to study towards a qualification in psychology after matric.
