The KZN Hunting Shooting and Conservation Association Alfred County branch recently held a long-range demo at Oribi.

The demo was hosted by Simms Arms.

According to club member Desmond Govender, there were also beautiful firearms with exceptional optics which were on display.

He said all those who attended were given the opportunity to shoot some of the most phenomenal calibres such as the BMG .50cal, 375 Cheytac, 33XC, 300 Norma Mag, .338 Win Mag, adding that the opportunity made everyone smile.

“Some of the rifles were shot at distances up to 1.3km. There were many smaller calibres that were also given a go. The gong plates and shootists were impressed at the distances their rifles can shoot. A big thank you to Peet Thuynsma and Neil Arlow for their efforts in the long-rang demo and showing shootists what is long-range shooting all about,” said Govender, adding that there were 25 people who attended.

He added that the demo also included a bring and braai, saying that the day was a great success.
