New sponsored kits for college soccer players

The campus soccer team was established in 2021 by one of the lecturers, Cebolenkosi Mathe.

The Arsenal Gamalakhe Campus soccer team of Esayidi TVET College recently received a generous donation of kits from GND Catering Company.

The campus soccer team was established in 2021 by one of the lecturers, Cebolenkosi Mathe and it consists of 30 members, including the technical team.

Mathe, who is also the campus sports coordinator, said seeing the commitment the students show towards the sport, motivated them to do something for the players, adding that playing in a kit that is in good condition will boost the players’ confidence.

The owner of GND Catering, Sipho Nsusha sponsored the kits for the Arsenal Gamalakhe Campus.

He said the owner of GND, Sipho Nsusha asked many questions when he tried to secure sponsorship from him.

“I had a rough idea in my head and our media liaison officer told me to put the plan in writing. So, we drew it up but the problem was when I went to Nsusha, he asked me some serious questions and I even thought of quitting. He wanted to know how will this make an impact, and will it be sustainable. We somehow managed to give him all the answers he needed and we got the sponsorship,” said Mathe.

He added that the team consists of only registered students.

Meanwhile, Nsusha challenged the students to be above average.

“After I looked at the proposal by Mathe, I asked him to go back and draw up a proposal that has a wish list. GND is very humbled by the opportunity given to it by the institution to operate on their premises. As a result, GND must do something to give back to the school,” said Nsusha.

He added that players must decide whether they want to be average or excellent. Nsusha said there are far too many people who are average.

“I am challenging you to strive for excellence. In the space of sports, do not be average because GND does not like to associate itself with average people. GND will not continue sponsoring you if you produce average results,” said Nsusha.
