BRONWYN TANNER: Tuning In – Green Team tidies Pennington railway station

Community news and events for the mid-South Coast area.

It’s October and only three months to the insanity of the end of the year – I’m hardly over the insanity of the beginning of the year!

Pennington‘s Green Team assisted with the Pennington Railway Line Project last week. The team gave the Pennington station a tidy-up and assisted Marc Arde (railway line project leader). They removed the litter in the bushes while clearing the railway line of invasive vegetation.

Thanks to Live, Love, Laugh Shop (Gill Young) for the lovely ‘cool’ refreshments, tea, scones and biscuits; Colleen Craig for allowing Raymond Myende to assist; Pamela Anne Jamieson and Steve Cooke for sponsoring Blessing 1 and Blessing 2; and The Green Team members who came out on the day.

It was International Older Persons’ Day yesterday (Tuesday). We all celebrate Mother’s Day and Father’s Day with our loved ones, but often, those in our homes and many other homes don’t get special treatment on those days by their children, as many are just cast aside and forgotten.

In celebration of this day, perhaps treat the special oldies in your life with some muffins or cupcakes and don’t forget to spend a bit of time with them. They will love the visit, lift the stigma on a forgotten generation and celebrate them.

Coming up:
* The Scottburgh Camera Club is hosting a composition workshop at Premier Resort Cutty Sark Hotel on October 19 at 13:00. This is a great opportunity to join like-minded individuals, learn new techniques and improve your photography skills. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, there will be something for everyone to take away from this event. Contact Kobus Mare on 082 5770419.
