Answer to prayer is shipped in

It's an exciting development for the church.

The Margate Wesleyan Church in Margate recently took delivery of a rather large and unusual package.

It was an answer to prayer and something the children in the church are especially excited about.

The present-day church in Margate was built in 1957/58, and upon completion, Pastor Paul Ragsdale served as the resident pastor.

Over the years, a number of pastors have followed in his footsteps.

Pastor Shaun Botha and his wife, Gail, are the most recent, arriving in September 2016 to take up the reins.
They are still there, ministering to the spiritual needs of the local community.

Botha explained that the church has struggled with the lack of an appropriate area for a Sunday School.

In addition, the scarcity of sufficient finances for this small church did not allow for the construction of a new classroom or Wendy House.

He said the absence of a classroom and play area for the children has been a major concern for the board, including the vision of growing the Sunday School by accommodating more children.

“Children need to feel secure in their own space without being interrupted by congregants walking through the existing fellowship hall area (which is where the current classroom is) to use the toilet or when cups and saucers are being placed for refreshments.”

The church prayer groups last month felt a call to ask the Lord to somehow open doors to accommodate the growing number of children with a classroom for their security and privacy.

“We started praying at the beginning of August, and by the end of August, the Lord had encouraged us to contact logistics company Synergy Port Operations in Durban to ask for the sponsorship of a shipping container. It took one hour to receive a positive response from them. How great is our God?”

The area at the bottom of the church carpark was identified as being the ideal zone for the new Sunday School, including the placement of the container and cordoning off a play space that the children will now be able to call their own.
