Seven years ago, inspired by the brave and courageous stand taken by Cde Pravin Gordhan, millions of South Africans rose in defence of the Constitution, the Treasury and the Chapter 9 institutions.
Cde Pravin sowed the seeds of activism and active citizenry in the democratic era in all of us who hold dear our hard-won liberation.
To me, he was our moral compass and a leader with a passion to serve for greater good.
His passing will certainly be a huge loss to our country and its people.
Our task ahead will be to work towards and implement strategies he so often advised on building a non-racial democracy with strong, ethical leadership.
The Port Shepstone Human Rights Centre offers condolences to the family, friends and all those whose lives he touched so positively.
