OPINION: Is Marburg really the area that is forgotten?

"The area has the most revenue collected with the least amount of services provided."

Marburg, a sore area to think of and an even more monotonous area to talk about.
About two weeks ago an article was published about the poor services in the area, with no response from anyone concerned.

A week after that, an even bigger problem prevails as the residents are crying for electricity, a basic necessity which is paid for on a monthly basis.

From Monday, January 29, Deepvale Road has been without power, residents that are living from hand to mouth had to throw away frozen food.

The businesses in the area had to move their frozen products to other areas to avoid losses.
Since the return of load shedding, the outages on Deepvale Road are worse than before. Days go by without any power and no answers.
What is going on?

Is Marburg really the area that is forgotten. The area has the most revenue collected with the least amount of services provided. The office for Eskom for Marburg is based in Margate. The office for Hibberdene is based in Marburg. How is this even possible? The question more is why. Why is the office inaccessible to residents?
Residents are crying and in need of much-needed services. They are asking for answers. Who do we call? Who do we turn to?

The municipal manager is never available. The mayor is out of reach and the customer care in charge of Marburg never answers.

What is the plan for the next financial year for Marburg? The community is requesting service level agreement.
We do not want to resort to protests and other measures in making our voices heard. All we want is answers. We want our basic needs. Eskom increases its rates every year but the services are worse than the previous year. Give us answers and meet with us for an amicable resolution that will work for all concerned.
