Welcome to visitors to our precious piece of paradise. Enjoy, have fun, but more importantly, respect our part of the land.

I wish all readers a very Merry Christmas. The end of the year is nigh, much has been learned in 2023 to be carried forward into 2024.

Information on fireworks on New Year’s Eve: Fireworks can be set off on Sunday, December 31 from 23:45 to 00:15. Those who violate the by-laws will be liable to a R2 500 fine.

Upcoming events:
* Pennington Conservancy is holding a night market at Pennington beach on December 21. Stall holders will set up from 14:30 at R85 per stall. Stall holders are asked to bring fairy lights. For further information contact 074 9772266 or 078 2933148.

* Pennington Waves Centre is holding a Christmas Mardi Gras on Saturday, December 23. Calling all stall holders to book a table from 14:00 to 20:00. Live music is from 16:00 to 20:00. Contact 071 6053272 or 082 9254623 to book your stall at R50.

* The annual Scottburgh beer run is on December 23 at 17:00. There are limited entries. For bookings contact 083 5930594.

*Pennington Rec Club Market day is on Saturday, January 6 from 09:00 to 12noon.

Khanya Hospice Tree of Lights: People are encouraged to ‘buy a light’ in memory of a loved one who has passed away. Write a message to a loved one and it can be hung on the tree on your behalf. For more information email hospice@scottnet.co.za

Items are needed for Christmas shoeboxes for Alex Park, Amcup, pensioners and needy children. Contact Rix Windell on 072 1108988. Items required are toothpaste, toothbrush, small hand cream, soap, facecloth, roll on deodorant, small sweets, small biscuits and socks for men.
The same items are needed for children if they are aged 10 and older, together with a new item of clothing and something to use at school. Smaller children get a toy and a piece of clothing and something for school. Community members can put anything into the shoebox, eg chips, etc.
