OPINION: Stop using so much electricity and water

"The guile of the government is quite sneaky as they put the distress of the situation on us."

I must say that this ongoing fiasco with Eskom beggars belief at its inability to fix that which should have been repaired and upgraded over time, working according to five or ten year maintenance plans.

And what about those who are responsible for not enacting and applying the maintenance schedules, which would have meant we would not be sitting burning candles now.

The guile of the government is quite sneaky as they put the distress of the situation on us, yes my fellow South Africans, on us, because ‘we are using too much electricity’.

Apparently, ‘we’ are also using too much water.

It’s not the fact that ‘they’ did not do their jobs to keep us South Africans adequately supplied with that which is our right to have, according to our Constitution, by expanding the infrastructure.

The water supply around the country is also an issue, if you did not know!

The irony of this situation is that we, my fellow South Africans, are so grateful to the parastatal authorities when we have electricity and water that we could almost kiss their feet.

Yes. Kiss their feet in gratitude, for doing the job for which they are contracted and being paid to do, and which they take the attitude that we are very fortunate to have these skilled people to attend to the nagging problems for which they are the culprits.
