OPINION: ‘South Coast is my home and I am glad I live here’

"The South Coast is not just a holiday destination, it can be a wonderful home, a place to retire or to start a family, to create a business opportunity and to invest."

The South Coast of KZN has always been a top tourist destination.

I have called the South Coast home for the past 15 years and it is so exciting to see how the area has transitioned in front of my eyes.

When we grow up we watch movies about a snow-white Christmas and it really sells the dream of what Christmas must look like, but I have seen that tanning yourself as red as Santa’s suit is the actual dream of Christmas. As a young boy, I recall coming down to the South Coast for our Christmas holiday.

It was always such a fun time spent with family, friends you would make on the beach and copious amounts of ice cream. But unfortunately, tourist destinations changed, the economy dropped, the recession of 2008 and 2018 hit the South Coast hard and let’s not even talk about the Covid-19 lockdown.

However, an initiative called Tidy Towns which is headed by the community has had a vision to restore the South Coast to what it used to be in those ‘glory days’ and it really feels that they are achieving this goal.
Local investors and business owners have stood up, upgraded their buildings, and expanded to other premises all to ensure that the South Coast looks good and that we can service all your needs for your holiday.
The community has banded together to have streets and beaches cleaned, new businesses have opened and the town is alive again!

However, the South Coast is not just a holiday destination, it can be a wonderful home, a place to retire or to start a family, to create a business opportunity and to invest.

We have stunning beaches that stretch all over our coastline, a diverse range of activities for all ages, and a lively atmosphere that makes it a perfect choice for all who visit or live here.
Whether one seeks relaxation or adventure, the South Coast offers something for everyone.

The South Coast is my home and I am so glad I live here.
We are looking forward to you visiting this December and having your enjoy the beauty of the South Coast
