BRONWYN TANNER: Tuning In – Snake man visits Nkomba Sanctuary this Saturday

Community events for the mid-South Coast area.

A number of events are taking place in and around Scottburgh – an informative session with the ‘snake man’, markets, Mardi Gras, a fundraising music evening for the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) and more.

* Pat McKrill, also known as the ‘snake man’ will be at Nkomba Sanctuary, Dolphin Drive, Pennington this Saturday October 28 at 14:00. Join the Pennington Conservancy for an interesting, informative and fun afternoon. No booking required. Bring a chair and refreshments. Donations to the Pennington Conservancy welcome.

* The Democratic Alliance will have an information table and assist with voter registration at Govender’s Fruit and Veg parking lot (cnr of Second Avenue and Third Street) this Saturday, October 28 from 09:00 to 12:00.

* Join in a fundraiser for CROW at Live Love Laugh, Pennington Waves Centre this Saturday, October 28. It will be a music evening with local musicians. For more information contact Gill Young on 078 2924623.

* DHS old boys are invited to a social evening at the Scottburgh Country Club on Thursday, November 2 at 17:30. The CEO of the DHS Foundation Trust, Andrew Shedlock invites all old boys to attend.

* The Sanctuary of the Great White Light invites locals to a Clairvoyant Day on Saturday, November 4. For more information, contact Gayle Weston on 083 6545261.

* Umdoni Park Golf Club is hosting NG Church Scottburgh’s golf day on Sunday, November 19. Book with Veni at the proshop on 039 9751615. Enquiries to Noelene Kros on 083 5464358.

* Umdoni Retirement Village is hosting a Christmas market on Saturday, November 25 from 08:30 to 12:30. Vendors are required. Tables cost R140. Contact Lesley Perchman on 083 2871296.

* The Scottburgh Mardi Gras takes place in Scott Street on Saturday, December 17 from 09:00 to 21:00. This is a Lions Club fundraiser. Contact Lorna Thomson on
072 5078773 to find out more. There will be a float parade, quality stalls, food, beer garden, display court, live entertainment, kiddie zone, beautiful competition and a Christmas eggnog fun run.

* There are two markets in Scottburgh on Saturdays. One on the corner of Williamson/Arbuthnot Street and one at the country club. Contact 071 4741524 for trading details at the country club from October 28.
