I received important information for beach walkers – if you come across a stranded seal, you can help by knowing what to do and who to call. Do: call the authorities; set up a 5m perimeter to keep onlookers and more importantly dogs away. Gather information. Stay with the seal. Don’t: chase the seal back into the sea; touch, feed or handle the seal in any way. SAAMBR is one of the principal members of the KZN Marine Stranding network.
