OPINION: Cat owner praises SPCA staff for assistance

Staff went out of their way to avert what could have been a nightmare.

I want to thank and commend the Lower South Coast SPCA for an excellent well-organised vaccination drive last Saturday.

Everyone was very friendly, and I must add, the pancakes were delicious.

I adopted three orphaned ferals kittens, which I adore.

They have since become domestic cats but are still wild at heart.

I took them to the SPCA vaccination drive day. On arriving there, I realised my cats were not going to cope with dogs, crowds or line-up for their jab, and their escape seemed inevitable!

Mike Davis from the SPCA sensed my apprehension and came to the rescue offering to jab the cats inside their transporters in the car.
However, once he saw them, he kindly and wisely advised to vaccinate them inside a room to avoid any escape.

Mike Davis and Maphelo Nomqonde of the Lower South Coast SPCA with the feral cats, are praised for going the extra mile.

SPCA staff member Maphelo Nomqonde carried the cats (in their transporters), one at a time, from the car into a small room, with a closed door and a cat net ready.

This also calmed the cats who were quickly jabbed in their transporters without any incident.

I was so grateful for the help given to me and am truly thankful for the helpful attitude shown.
Mike went out of his way to assist me with the help of Maphelo. Thank you! You did the SPCA proud. You went beyond your line of duty. You averted what could have been a nightmare into an applause of praise and gratitude.
