OPINION: Some truck drivers pose a danger on our roads

It is only a matter of time before we have another huge serious accident caused by these shocking drivers.

With regards to the accident road carnage and state of our South Coast roads I would like to highlight another huge problem developing on our South Coast roads.

We now have a daily influx of 10- and 20-ton heavy duty trucks, carrying mainly sand and some with stone, travelling on the R102 (old main road from Hibberdene to Port Shepstone).

These truck drivers drive like a bats out of hell, spilling lots of sand which flies onto the motorists’ cars, and they have no consideration for the motorist.

They are a danger to all motorists and causing huge damage to our roads – you will notice that many of these trucks have no signage displayed, no telephone numbers and some with no number plates.

It is only a matter of time before we have another huge serious accident.
I personally have a chipped bonnet and windscreen on my vehicle caused from flying particles from these trucks.
