OPINION: Water leak respite? Let’s not jinx it

It does no harm to say thank you from time to time.

Negative rhetoric is sometimes taken as the norm in our rather, at times, stressful world.

If it is not excessive petrol price hikes, murderously long waits in traffic congestion or having to skirt an area due to burning tyres and stones on the road – it is too easy to take the negative stance.

This morning, while drinking my morning coffee (black, no sugar) I thought that, while hoping not to jinx the status quo, it seems that the providers of the water to our homes and businesses, are winning the battle of the water leaks.

So, on behalf of the residents of the South Coast, who are now benefiting from their dedication to Batho Pele, thank you.

On a different note, I overheard on social media recently that, to us fellow South Africans at least, that our national electricity supplier is too big to fail.

Well, it is floundering like a swimmer too far from a life raft and without a life jacket, and remember what happened to the great Titanic.

She was too big to fail and look where her rusty remains lie now.
