Tuning In: Community Watch tackles pothole problems

Simon Williams, on behalf of Scottburgh Community Watch advises, thanks all those who have helped towards fixing the potholes.

He said the community watch would slowly move through Scottburgh, filling up any potholes it finds.

If you have any potholes in your street please let Simon know and he’ll mark it down if he has not done so already.

He said they need to finish the potholes at the traffic lights and then move on down through the golf course road and Galway.

If anyone has time on their hands to physically help for a couple hours, at around 18:00, when they do the patchwork, let him know. Contact Simon on 081 3638817.

Umdoni Park Forest is hosting a walk on Thursday, January, 6 from 18:30 to 19:15. The cost is R25 per person; U12 is R15. It is an easy route of about 3km. Bring along a picnic and drinks and after the walk enjoy the opportunity to feast under the forest canopy at the Environmental Centre. There are toilets available. Car Boot Sale/Market at Scottburgh Country Club every Saturday from 08:00, weather permitting. Anything legal can be sold. No booking required, stallholders can just turn up if interested. For further information contact Robert and Alida Pegram on 084 3099586.

Join the chess class at Relton Hall Pennington on Fridays from 3pm to 5pm. Cost is R10 per participant. Contact Silvano Borea on 081 0449342.

Table tennis is also now happening at Relton Hall Pennington. Contact Karen Veleur on 082 7864971.

Pennington Conservancy advises that it would like to use the Beach Café for more events, like an art exhibition, so community members are asked to contact the Beach Café to discuss requirements for clubs and groups.

In my opinion Sunday, December 26 last year was a very sad day with the passing of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, a man who certainly made his mark in the lives of many in South Africa.
