Tuning In: Support music festival for worthy cause

A number of local artists will be performing to help raise funds towards Shaninlea being fitted with prosthetic arms.

PLEASE diarise Sunday, July 21. A music festival is being organised at the Scottburgh Country Club to fundraise for a very special community member, Shaninlea Rogers Visser. A number of local artists will be performing to help raise funds towards Shaninlea being fitted with prosthetic arms. To date, she has undergone 57 surgeries and still has a number to undergo. The cost of tickets is R120 per person (13 years and older – booked in advance); R50 for children (6-13 years) and entrance is free for children under six years of age. Tickets purchased on the day will be R150. The event will take place on the rugby field; bring chairs and blankets. The club will have a cash bar and be selling light and inexpensive meals. For further information, contact Cheryl Martensat at 084-2497365.

The Pennington Conservancy held their annual general meeting last Saturday. The turnout exceeded all expectations. A new committee was elected. Their names will be published once the minutes are finalised.

Messages received from various sources have stated that there will be no load-shedding this week. I am not sure I truly understand any of this. One week the country is in severe crisis, the next week there is no crisis.

The ring around the hole in the R102 is still there – and the hole is still there. Surely the severity of this should have been noted by someone in authority and dealt with immediately? Does anyone have any answers?

CaptionA report in the Transvaler, October 1947 – The electricity was off for 35 minutes. Shock and horror.
