Tuning In: Simba has found a home

As soon as it is possible, I will share pics of Simba at his new home.

GRATEFUL thanks go to Mike from River Valley Resort for his work on the potholes in Cod Crescent and Dolphin Drive. Also to Mr Cavell who has repaired potholes from Porpoise Drive into Salmon Drive.

Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of two very special people who passed away recently, Dave Watermeyer and Lynette Hatton. Such incredibly sad news for the entire community.

Jane Downey included me in the Relton Hall newsletter. Part of it is quoted here for information purposes: “We now need to make Pennington residents aware of the asset they have in their midst. The Pennington Recreation Club owns the hall and the acre of land on which it resides. This means that the members of the club are all owners of this property. This does bear some thinking about.

“We, as the committee, would appreciate any suggestions on how to change the Pennington Recreation Club into a more representative association for our modern times and to link in with local business and amenities.

The hall is ideal for groups who need a place to hold meetings and indoor activities – a chess club, bridge, amateur dramatics, art clubs, choir, table tennis (we have a table), talks and presentations, churches, etcetera.

The lawn and verandah at the back offer a place for children to play.

“Our 66th birthday party will be arranged shortly. Ideas on the theme will be welcomed – the tramps’ ball was a great success as were the wine tasting and lunch parties.” Jane would love to hear from the community at janedowney775@gmail.com

It’s holiday club time again at Scottburgh Primary on March 20 and 22 and next week on March 25 to 29 from 7am to 5pm. For further information please contact Danielle at vanschalkwykdanielle@gmail.com

Grateful thanks to Hennie Potgieter of Gladiator who went beyond the call of duty to help rescue Diesel who was lost. It was an entire community effort and I know that there is a huge sigh of relief now that Diesel is safe.

Simba has found a home. Such exciting news. As soon as it is possible, I will share pics of Simba at his new home.

I have noticed that the pedestrian bridge on the R102 is about to be constructed. The question I would like to pose is will people use the bridge? Or will they still endanger their own lives and those of motorists by crossing on the road?

Excellent idea by the road painter to highlight the enormous hole on the R102 (just before the new bridge). Thank you, sir!

I spoke to someone who is in the know about driving, roads, parking and stuff. I wanted to find out who has right of way; the person exiting a parking or the person travelling along the same road. The person travelling has the right of way. The person exiting the parking needs to stop. Thanks to the car guards who stop most of us from backing into a busy road.

Another bit of interesting information is that those motorists who drive at night with their bright lights on into oncoming traffic could be fined. The R102 is indeed very bright at night.

The next Pennington Market at Relton Hall is being held on Saturday, March 23.

The Clansthal Conservancy Autumn Craft Market is being held on Sunday, March 24 from 9am to 2pm at 111 Pig & Whistle Drive, Clansthal. This is held in a private garden with resident dogs, so please don’t bring along your dog. To trade, contact liz@scottburgh.co.za

The Pennington Conservancy is holding its 2019 annual general meeting on Saturday, March 23, at Relton Hall. Registration is at 2pm and the meeting commences at 3pm. Relevant documents have been emailed to members. Should a member not be attending, they are asked to hand in the completed proxy form at the kisok or at the Conservancy office.
