NICO Rosberg continued unrelentingly to his seventh win in a row in Sochi, Russia last Sunday.
Rosberg (Mercedes) was hardly challenged, except by team mate Lewis Hamilton who got quite close round about lap 30, before having to ease off due to a minor engine problem.
Hamilton drove very well from 10th on the grid to his final second position.
Ferrari had a mixed day, with a great drive by Kimi Raikkonen into third spot, while it was a disaster for the latest ‘bad luck’ man’ Sebastien Vettel.
Vettel was again punted out of contention by Daniil Kvyat who this time apologised profusely.
Kvyat earned himself a 10-second stop-go penalty, as well as having three points deducted from his tally.
As for the rest of the field, Valtteri Bottas was as high as second after the start, but couldn’t hold Raikkonen’s flying Ferrari back and fourth position was the best he could achieve on the day.
McLaren Honda were again much more promising with an excellent showing by Fernando Alonso into a final sixth place and a good race also from team mate Jenson Button who earned the last point in tenth.
The missing men in the top 10 were Kevin Magnussen who finished seventh in an improving Renault, Romain Grosjean, eighth with another good result for Haas, while Sergio Perez drove a sensible race into ninth spot in his Force India Mercedes.
Daniel Ricciardo who was roughly dealt with at the start by Kvyat’s incident, managed to pull himself back to a disappointing twelfth position at the finish.
Rosberg must now try to make it a unique eight races in arrow when we go to Spain on May 15.
At the moment he shares his seven in a row with Vettel, Michael Schumacher and Alberto Ascari.
Rosberg is now 43 points ahead of Hamilton with Kimi Raikkonen third in the championship, while Vettel remains fourth despite two non-finishes.
