Role of trees observed on Arbour Day

The school thanks all sponsors for their contribution.

Naidoo Memorial Primary celebrated Arbour Day this month with enthusiasm, reinforcing their commitment to environmental conservation.

Learners, teachers and parents joined in to plant trees and small plants, learn about sustainability and promote eco-friendliness.

The day began with an educational assembly, with educational performances by learners with an emphasis on the importance of trees in the ecosystem.

Learners were educated about the role trees play in producing oxygen, supporting wildlife and combating climate change.

After the assembly, teachers and learners worked on the gardens and participated in a tree-planting ceremony. The plants were arranged by Melvin Pillay and the eThekwini Municipality parks department.

“We want our learners to understand the significance of trees and the impact humans have on the environment,” said acting principal Joseph Periah.

Teacher Rita Pillay was honoured as she transformed vacant pieces of land into beautiful gardens.
