Marburg Primary observes Arbour Day

Learners were taught about the importance of trees.

Marburg Primary recently held its annual Arbour Day programme, which featured speeches, songs and dances.

Each grade level showcased posters, poems, essays and pictures highlighting environmental conservation.

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality’s environmental officers Ntombifuthi Bhengu and Kholleka Ndlovu from the waste unit emphasised the importance of trees.

Guest speaker Morgan Naidoo from Umbango River Conservancy stressed the need to keep rivers and streams clean. His presentation showed his knowledge and passion for nature conservation.

Co-ordinator Shanie Sookoo thanked everyone for making the programme a success, as the school promotes environmental awareness, encouraging learners to become responsible stewards of the earth.

At a Heritage Day celebration last Friday, learners presented musical and dance items. The rich tapestry of heritage and cultural programme was truly exceptional.
