Learners explore world of books

The school's library was transformed into a vibrant book hub.

Naidoo Memorial Primary School recently observed National Book Week with great enthusiasm and excitement.

The annual event aimed to promote reading and literacy among learners and to foster a love for books and learning.

The school’s library was transformed into a vibrant book hub, showcasing a diverse range of books, authors and genres.

Learners participated in various activities, including book exhibitions and displays, author talks, storytelling sessions and quizzes.

“We believe that reading is the key to unlocking a child’s full potential,” said acting principal Joseph Periah.

Earlier this year, Merushka Singh, head of the media centre, started the ‘reading for fun’ campaign to re-introduce reading as a hobby.

“National Book Week is an excellent opportunity for us to instil a love for reading in our learners and help them develop essential skills for life. The National Book Week celebration was a resounding success, inspiring learners to explore the world of books and discover the joy of reading,” added Singh.
