Boeresports and potjie challenge a hit at Izotsha

The wheelbarrow race, sack race, three-legged race, tug-of-war and the 'Bokdrol Spoeg' were firm favourites.

The foundation phase at Izotsha Primary held two exciting sports days for the Grade Rs and Grades 1-3 last week.

The learners ran exceptionally well, and there was great house spirit and competitiveness.

Panther was the leading house, with Leopard in second and Jaguar in third.

The U7-U9 cross-country team participated in an inter-school event hosted by Port Edward Primary at Beaver Creek Coffee Farm.

The course was tough and challenging, a true cross-country course and a good way to end the competitive season.

A number of competitors fared well: U7 Nikita Wiles (1st) and Annabel Viljoen (2nd), Angus Bunge (2nd), U9 Kayden Bate (3rd), U10 Zana Shabane (3rd), U12 Deyana Chetty (2nd).

Ethan Browne, Zyev Mahadev, Rutendo Taivo and Olivia Browne participated in The Rising Star Schools’ Tennis Tournament at Westridge Stadium in Durban last weekend against strong competition. The boys’ team came second, and the girls’ team came fourth overall.

The school thanks the community for the tremendous support for its Boeresports and Potjie Challenge.

The wheelbarrow race, sack race, three-legged race, tug-of-war and the ‘Bokdrol Spoeg’ were firm favourites and added to the fun-filled atmosphere of the day, as did the aroma of the delicious potjies.
