Focus on conservation for Creston

It was an educational and exciting trip.

The Grade 11 Life Science learners from Creston College enjoyed an enriching weekend trip focused on conservation, thanks to the Johnny Lowe Memorial Trust.

Departing early last Friday, 13 learners and teachers boarded the bus for Mearns Farm near Mooi River.

Dr Peter Ardington and Dee Dickens led discussions on environmental protection, complemented by a tour of the dairy farm by James Kean.

At Weenen Nature Reserve, Dr Ardington presented on conservation while Frik Lemmer guided a memorable game drive and vulture feeding visit.

It included more talks and solitary riverbed reflections on Saturday, followed by another game drive on Sunday, culminating in a moonlit sensory experience.

Departing Monday, they witnessed rhinos crossing their path, ending a weekend cherished for its educational and natural wonders. Grateful to the Trust, Creston eagerly anticipates next year’s expedition.
