Mandela Day project for PS Secondary

Learners and staff made a difference in the community.

Port Shepstone Secondary School senior management team, teaching staff, learners and support staff joined hands for a special assembly coordinated by educator Shobana Naicker and Prasheka Rajoo (acting Departmental Head for Social Sciences and Skills).

The programme began with the prayer read by Sumaiyah Ismail, a choir item coordinated by educator Gift Mlambi, a poem recited by Mbali Gwacela and an enlightening speech by Vuyolwethu Dzingwe.

Thereafter, all form classes and form educators began their school initiatives and community outreach. This included the collection of canned and long-life food items for the SPCA and Child Welfare, respectively.

Clothing collections for the Port Shepstone Child Welfare, relief packs for the Tongaat Tornado Relief Drive, and various tree and vegetable planting was the order of the day at school.

The staff and students displayed a thirst for enthusiasm and willingness to drive this voluntary project, which fostered the culture of giving and community involvement.
