Port Shepstone High‘s Grade 12 learner Phethokuhle Shozi and the Sheppie High Ensemble Choir achieved incredible success recently.
Phethokuhle placed first in the immediate jazz category for the 13-18 year age group at the Yamaha Music Competition 2024 in Johannesburg.
This national platform showcases the skills of young, talented classical musicians on acoustic and digital pianos to keyboards, brass and woodwind instruments.
“It was a huge learning experience and networking opportunity as I met young jazz cats my age and older from around the country; I thank God for the opportunity and for the musical gift,” he said.
Another prestigious win goes to the Sheppie High Ensemble Choir at the Talent Africa Regional competition at the Luthern Hall in Shelly Beach.
It is a wonderful recognition of the talent and dedication of the choir director, Alulwele Mbewana, and the 35 talented learner members of the choir.
On the sporting front, the first-team soccer boys played against Hoërskool Suid-Natal last Thursday and won 13-0.
