PS Islamic shows athleticism at cross country run

Learners made the school proud.

Azhar Saeed, Muhammad Khalid Khan, Aadil Saeed and Muhammad Ajam from Port Shepstone Islamic School recently demonstrated their athleticism and camaraderie at the Annual Association of Muslim Schools Cross Country event hosted by As-salaam Educational Institute in Braemar.

The seniors ran a gruelling 5km race, and the U15 trudged along their 3km event on challenging terrain. Securing an impressive third position overall, their performance was commendable. Notably, Azhar Saeed showcased exceptional prowess by finishing third in the open division amidst stiff competition.

In another engaging outdoor activity, Grades 11 and 12 undertook a captivating 6km hike in the vicinity of the Oribi Gorge. The primary objective was to study river formation and its patterns after the recent heavy rains.

Along the journey, students keenly observed various rock formations, identified different rock types and the effects of the heavy downpour. The outing enhanced their understanding of various geological processes at play.
