Marburg Primary’s Meera retires

She was the first computer educator at Marburg Primary.

Meera Moodley (48) started her career at Marburg Primary School in 1998, where she served the School Governing Body as an educator until 2001.

She coached volleyball in her early years. In 2002 she started Marburg Primary’s first U13 girls soccer team which saw learners play against several schools within the Ugu District.

Moodley had a special place in her heart for indigent learners. She always arranged the sponsorship of school wear, school shoes and meals.

She was the first computer educator at Marburg Primary and has taught Computer Literacy, Life Science, Mathematics, English and Creative Arts. She possessed the ability to handle all challenges. Unfortunately, her failing health has forced her to retire early.

Moodley served as chairperson of National Professional Teachers’ Organisation of South Africa (Naptosa) for 13 years.

“I have gained so much of knowledge from my union,” she added.

She will be sorely missed by the teaching profession and at Marburg Primary. On behalf of the principal, School Governing Body, educators and learners, she is wished well in her retirement.
