Creston College excels in tests

Participation in an assessment process provides an international benchmark for comparison of standards which is very useful.

Every year Creston College learners write the International Benchmarking Tests (IBTs). These tests measure learner competencies and are skill-based and do not follow any single national curriculum, allowing for learners from all countries to be compared fairly.

These tests are written by thousands of IEB learners annually across South Africa and enable schools to track individual learner performance, as well as school performance from Grades 3 to 10.

Participation in an assessment process that provides an international benchmark for comparison of standards is very useful. It allows Southern African schools to remain in touch with global standards and to assess the extent to which their provisioning matches international standards in key learning areas.

The Creston College AstroTurf played host to the Spar KZN Schoolgirl’s Hockey Tournament for the Sisonke and Ugu Regionals last Sunday. Creston College played the opening match against King Edward, winning 1-0. The girls drew 0-0 against St Patricks, beat Scottburgh 4-0 and lost 1-0 to Kokstad College. For third and forth place, they played Southcity and lost 0-2 taking fourth place.

Congratulations to Kokstad College for taking second place and Suid-Natal for winning the overall regional title. Special mention to Julia Griffioen for scoring the first goal and to Slondiwe Ndwalane, Reese Laing and Melissa Bense on some excellent skills showcased during the tournament.
