Juniors shine at T10 cricket tourney

More of these tournaments are planned for next season.

Southcity Christian Schools hosted an U11 Cricket T10 Triangular last Friday, with three exciting matches played.
Schools involved were the hosts, Izotsha Primary and Port Edward Primary.

In the opening game, Southcity batted first and made 53 runs for four wickets in the 10 overs. Noah Lillie-Peterson and Luke Moschides picked up two wickets each.

In reply, Izotsha fell two runs short of victory, making 52 for four. Daniel Rush top-scored with 18 not out.
On the final ball, fielder Harvey Lepan shattered the stumps with a rocket-like throw from close range to prevent Izotsha sneaking an extra run to tie the game.

Izotsha then took on Port Edward, choosing to bat first.
They made 57 runs for three wickets, with Daniel Rush making 20 not out. He had support from Taylor Pereira (11) and Jan-Louis de Jager (8).
Damion Bezuidenhout took two wickets.
There was a comical scenario at the end of the innings with Daniel and Noah running four off a bye to the ‘keeper.

They could have/should have been run out at least twice, but those wickets can be frustratingly difficult to hit sometimes.
In reply, Damion made 26 of Port Edward’s total to see his team win easily, by nine wickets.
This lone wicket was claimed by Knox Boylan.

The last game was between Southcity and Port Edward, with hosts Southcity clinching a tight game by one run.
Southcity made 41 with Damion taking three wickets. Port Edward managed 40, one short, but what a game.
Afterwards, Damion was named bowler of the tournament for his five wickets, with Daniel named batsman of the tournament for his two not out innings.
More of these tournaments are planned for next season.
