Umkomaas Primary School teamed up with Clean Surf Project for a beach clean up last Friday.
The dedicated cleaning team went to the Cutty Sark beach near Scottburgh for the clean up, and a part of this process was to do a dune rehabilitation.

The learners picked up all sorts of rubbish, sticks and trees that were all over the beach – mostly caused by the floods earlier this year.
Two areas were identified to do a dune rehabilitation and the sticks and trees were used as part of this process. This will result in the plants growing there to form a cover once again and to conserve the dunes.

The school thanks Clean Surf Project for its expertise in this area, Singh’s Tours for sponsoring the bus for transportation to the beach and to Cutty Sark Hotel for providing the learners with refreshments that gave them energy to make the morning a success.
