Simon April, spokesman for Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, said the Uvongo Beach is now safe for swimming and for any recreational activities – hence, it is now open.
The lagoon, however, remains closed until it is also cleared.
“We appreciate your patience during the closure of the beach, and we continue to plead for your endurance in regards to the closure of the Uvongo lagoon as we continue to prioritise the health of our communities,” he said.
