Film festival starts on Friday

There's great excitement around the two-day event.

The countdown has begun for the highly anticipated 12th Ugu International Film Festival (UIFF). It’s scheduled to take place at Margate Hotel on October 18 and 19, from 9:00 to 18:00.

The festival brings together film enthusiasts, industry professionals and local communities to celebrate the magic of cinema. It will showcase local and international films, include workshops and masterclasses with industry experts, and provide networking opportunities with filmmakers and producers.

Industry professionals in attendance – and who will conduct workshops – include Luthuli Dlamini, Siyabonga Shibe, Thabo Mnguni, Sthembiso Mtshali, Siya Sityana, Portia Ncwane and Peter Pham.
A new element intended to empower filmmakers and the community is ‘Film and Business Market 2024’, which will serve as a catalyst in aligning businesses and film sectors with the aim of future collaborations.
UIFF aims to reach all levels and standards of living by incorporating various activities, including exhibition stands, live film action performances for live audiences, stunt performances for children, involvement of schools, and more.

Various businesses and individuals have committed to showcasing their products, while high-end discussions, workshops and screenings will be held at the same venue. Founder Senzo Zindela said he is thrilled to host the festival again, one which promotes cultural exchange, creativity and economic growth. “We look forward to delivering an unforgettable experience and thank our sponsors, including main sponsor Duyunov’s Engines, for their contributions.”
