Secret Swim for breast cancer this Saturday

The aim of this event is to fund breast cancer screenings for 1 000 women.

A women’s only Secret Swim for breast cancer awareness will be held at selected beaches in South Africa this Saturday.

Scottburgh has been included as one of the few locations where a limit of 200 women will gather, creating a safe and supportive space for those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.

This event by the ILoveBoobies Charity calls on women to honour the fighters, celebrate the survivors and remember the brave souls who fought against breast cancer.

The charity’s mandate is to educate and perform clinical screenings for South African women who have limited funds and access to medical facilities.

All of the funds raised from the Secret Swim will go directly to ILoveBoobies’ breast cancer screening program for underserved South African women. The aim is to fund screenings for 1 000 women.

The event is for women of all ages and will be on October 12 from 07:30 to about 09:00.

Pre-entry and registration is mandatory (visit www.iloveboobies.co.za to enter).

The location of the Secret Swim will be sent the night before to those registered.

The day will begin with general registration, mingling, temporary tattoos and selfies, followed by a welcome talk and safety briefing by ILoveBoobies.

A group photo will follow, where attendees will be photographed from behind (optional topless). Thereafter, at 08:00, there will be the dip/swim/bop in the sea.

People are advised to bring a picnic for after the swim and to stay for a chat on the beach.

Please note that female lifesavers will be on duty at the secret location, and bag-watchers will ensure your belongings stay safe.

Non-swimmers are welcome to take part as well, by taking a quick dip in the water.
