Hibiscus Quilters’ Guild celebrates 35 years

The birthday tea was a fantastic morning of chit-chat and sharing lots of memories.

The Hibiscus Quilters Guild celebrated its 35th anniversary in September.

They are a group of quilting ladies that meet once a month to enjoy their hobby.

One of the founder members, Sue Theron, attended the birthday tea.

Theron surprised them with a quilt she is working on. She is still a quilter, even though no one does it in Kokstad.

Pauline McGovern (left) kindly gifted a 35th birthday pin. She is with Debbie Eva showing off the lovely pins.

Elna Stringer, the chairperson of the guild, said they spoke about all the wonderful memories of sewing together, meeting for craft classes, and generally just enjoying the fellowship of like-minded people.

“We had a fantastic morning of chit-chat and sharing lots of memories while enjoying the supplied snacks,” she said.

The beautiful table settings were done in different colours, and a beautiful cake was made by Lynne Roborg-Cole.

The guild meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Village of Happiness, Margate.

Quilters or sewers are more than welcome to attend and be inspired.

Lorna de Lange entertained the group.
