Police celebrate Casual Day

The purpose of the day was to create greater awareness of people living with disabilities.

Earlier this month, Scottburgh Saps members joined their colleagues from stations and units under the Ugu District at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre in Gamalakhe to commemorate Casual Day.

This year’s theme was ‘I see you’.

The purpose of the day was to create greater awareness of people living with disabilities, to reassure them that they are seen and heard and that they do matter in society.

An aerobics session helped beat the chill on a gloomy day.

The event was largely driven by Employee Health and Wellness (EHW), Women’s Network and Men for Change.

Saps celebrated the day dressed in beautiful traditional wear, potjie cook-offs and sports activities, including a gruelling tug-of-war battle and a vigorous aerobics session.

A number of sponsors and businesses set up stalls to educate and promote their brands and engage with the members in a more relaxed environment.

The day was an overall success, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
