Kudos for 28 years of wildlife service

In order to achieve this status an honorary officer must give of their time, expertise and know how in a voluntary capacity, that is no pay,

Anne Skelton, Julia Watson and Lionel Bennett were each awarded Honorary Life Member status at the recent AGM of Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife honorary officers held at Mtunzini on the North Coast.

These three honorary officers (HO), Skelton of Mzimkhulu, Watson and Bennett of Mpenjati, have indeed gone way beyond the call of duty to the organisation, their respective groups and the lower South Coast.

A proud regional coordinator of the South East region, Debbie King, congratulated the honorary officers on this incredible achievement.

“This is an excellent achievement and is not lightly given. The honorary officer either has to reach 28 years of voluntary, consistent service to the organisation or has exemplary service,” said King.

The HO constitution states that in order to achieve this status, an HO must give off their time, expertise and know-how in a voluntary capacity, without pay, with enthusiasm and dedication to nature.

Skelton, Watson and Bennett are happiest when identifying plants, freeing and rehabilitating animals, digging ditches, removing alien invasives, being on call to rescue stranded animals both marine and land, sanding decks, flipping burgers, fundraising, educating the public, and so much more.
