Don’t miss talk on shells

Everyone is invited to listen to Debbie King on August 25.

If you would like to learn more about shells, don’t miss Debbie King’s talk at the Bendigo Conservancy Group at Leka’s in Southport on Sunday, August 25, at 14:00.

King is a conchologist (shell collector) who loves to roam local beaches in search of treasures given by the sea. It could be bits of pottery, driftwood or shells. Mainly shells!

She started collecting many years ago and has a sizeable collection of Southern African shells.

Shells are identified by shape, particular ridges, spines and mainly by location. King will explain how a shell is formed, give some fascinating facts about shells and try to answer any questions you may have.

She has a general interest in and enthusiasm for nature and biodiversity and is a Mpenjati and Mzimkhulu Honorary Officer with Ezemvelo Wildlife KZN and a member of Custodians of Rare and Endangered Wildflowers.

Everyone is invited to the meeting. No charge, and donations are welcome.
