Art exhibition opens tonight

The theme for 2024 is 'Birds of a Feather'.

Artists of local art club, Art by the Sea, will hold their annual exhibition at Margate Art Museum during August and September.

This event is the undisputed highlight of the local art fraternity every year.

Art by the Sea has about 50 members who get together on Tuesday mornings for talks, skills training, demonstrations, workshops and social painting sessions.

Convener Johann du Toit said the theme for 2024 is ‘Birds of a Feather’, and artists went to town creating magnificent artworks featuring nature’s feathered friends.

“Over and above these, there will also be landscapes and seascapes, portraits, street scenes, flowers, still life paintings and abstract artworks,” he said.

The Art Museum Gallery is open from Tuesdays to Fridays, 09:00 to 16:00, and on Saturdays, from 09:00 to 14:00, in August and September.
