Fitness Festival ‘wild success’

Convenor Luke Davies was delighted with the success of the event.

Fitness athletes from around the country recently descended on the South Coast to compete in the Fitness Festival held at Margate Sports School, hosted by the Wild Coast Fitness box.

The run was one of the highlights.

Among these were some 70 locals who also took part. In total, there were 162 competitors in teams of three.
There was plenty of incentive in the way of prizes, so competition was fierce. When it was all over, 72 went home with a prize.

Under the watchful eye of 30 judges, they competed in a variety of events, including weight lifting, gymnastics and high-intensity workouts, plus a run along the beautiful coast between St Michaels and Uvongo.

From beginners to experienced athletes, they shared a sense of community, participating in the sport.

It also offered some serious spectator enjoyment, with all the usual thrills and spills.

At the end of it all, there was tremendous camaraderie among contestants, all adding to the success of the event.

Convenor Luke Davies was delighted with the success of the event, not merely from a competition point of view but also in terms of attracting people to the region.

Great balance from Barry Carlsson.

He said the resounding success of the festival would not have been possible had it not been for the unwavering support of sponsors and the South Coast community.

“Close to R100 000 in cash prizes was up for grabs, and we are already planning a bigger and better event for 2025.”

Fez Vatsha gives it his all.
Intense focus from Annemarie Potgieter.
