WARNING: Taxis will not run on Monday (July 29)

The notice says taxis, buses, scholar transport and meter taxis will not be operating.

Taxi associations in the Ugu region will not be operating on Monday, July 27. That’s according to a notice which been circulating on social media.

The notice, written in isiZulu, informs commuters that there will be no public transport on Monday.

According to a taxi boss, who requested to remain anonymous, taxi owners will hold a peaceful meeting to discussing issues pertaining to Operation Shanela.

The taxi boss doubted that private drivers would have any issues on the road but strongly advised giving people lifts or transporting anyone.

The notice explained that taxis, buses, scholar transport and meter taxis would not be operating.

The taxi association wants the Department of Transport to intervene in the issues they are facing in the region.

In the notice, commuters, taxi owners and the public in general are urged to join the meeting which will take place at Marburg Sports Ground at 9:00.
