Emergency services were lucky to have escaped a secondary accident while they were treating a patient with gunshot wounds on the R61 in Shelly Beach yesterday (Wednesday).
Craig Botha of Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service said a vehicle lost control and collided into the barrier near the emergency services personnel.
“Thankfully no one’s was injured in the collision,” said Botha.
Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service had responded to reports of a pedestrian collision.
However, Botha said that when their emergency services team arrived they found that a patient had sustained a gunshot wound.
It was then, while emergency services were busy on scene that a vehicle lost control and collided into the barrier near the emergency services.
“We urge motorists to please, reduce your speed and increase your following distance when approaching accident scenes,” added Botha.
