Scottburgh fitness fundraiser to benefit orphanage and school
This year's beneficiaries are Illovo Mother of Peace Orphanage and Umzinto Primary School.
Ultimate Dance Fitness (UDF) is hosting a Women’s Day Fit Morning Zumba fundraiser in support of Illovo Mother of Peace Orphanage and Umzinto Primary School.
The event will be held at Scottburgh Country Club on Friday, August 9. The day’s events will include a Zumba session, kickfit, obstacle course challenge, tug-o-war, music, prizes, a raffle and an auction.
Zumba instructor Shereen Paul said that she is excited to be hosting yet another fundraiser for the community’s benefit.
At the orphanage, there are between 60-80 children who are in need of toiletries, bedding, upgrading of facilities, doctor visits and more. It is also believed that the orphanage assists homeless children.
In terms of assisting the school, UDF was made aware of the dire need to upgrade facilities at Umzinto Primary.
“We make it our duty to do a good deed at least once a year for various organisations as giving back brings us so much of joy. Sacrificing time and energy to give back to humanity makes a huge difference not only in ourselves but in the lives of others out there,” added Shereen.
At last year’s Women’s Day event at the Blue Marlin Hotel in Scottburgh, a whopping R22 300 was raised for District 49 Home of Safety and Naidooville Primary School in Craigieburn.
“We have raised funds for different organisations over the years and want to give the orphanage and the school a chance to benefit this year,” said Shereen.
The fitness morning costs R120 per person, and goodie bags are guaranteed for the first 100 tickets sold. Free entry for ages 12 and below.
Registration is at 07:30, and the event will kick off at 08:00.
