Mpenjati Eco-Festival a fabulous affair

Organisers promise to make the Mpenjati Eco-Festival a 2025 event.

The Mpenjati Eco-Festival was a fantastic day filled with walks and interesting talks about nature last Saturday.

Set on the north bank of the Mpenjati Nature Reserve, the weather was superb, with not a breath of wind.

The Chairperson of Mpenjati Conservancy, Anna Jordan, said the festival team was thrilled at the turnout.

First Margate Scouts (from left) Caitlin Morton (troop scouter), Erin Baker, Ethan Pretorius, Rebecca Baker and Quinley Tranter.

“The feedback from visitors has been very positive and encouraging. For us, we have achieved what we set out to do – bring people into the reserve to explore and enjoy its habitats and discover how we can make choices that support the environment we live in and depend on,” said Jordan.

Guest speaker Jeanne-Louise Kinsey.

She thanked the speakers who shared their knowledge and the First Margate Scouts for bringing in some additional energy with their youth, as well as the non-profits and service providers who added further interest and information.
