International quilter returns to teach in Margate

A tragic loss inspired the curation of the 81 Sunset Quilt collection which he will have with him next Tuesday.

Any local quilters who aren’t already a member of the Hibiscus Quilters‘ Guild should watch out for the return of UK based quilter John Cole-Morgan on July 2.

His will give a free class and talk at the Margate Retirement Village on Tuesday, July 2 at 09:30.

While the class and talk are free, donations for his charity ‘The Quilter’s Legacy Foundation’ are greatly appreciated.

Cole-Morgan will have an exhibition of 81 miniature quilts which were made by 75 quilters from around the world, all depicting sunsets.

The inspiration of these quilts was the loss of loved ones to cancer.

Cole-Morgan was inspired to curate this collection when a member of his Facebook group lost her young son to the disease.

This tragic loss inspired the curation of the 81 Sunset Quilt collection which he will have with him next Tuesday.

When Cole-Morgan lost a dear friend, Nicola Bretherton, to the hideous disease he was determined to try and display this exhibition far and wide to try raise money for cancer research.

The Quilter’s Legacy Foundation is a charity started by Cole-Morgan to help fund disadvantaged quilters into a potential quilting journey.

The therapeutic and mindful parts of the craft have left Cole-Morgan inspired to share his passion with all who would like to learn about it.

For more information on how to join in the class and talk and see the exhibition contact Cole-Morgan through Facebook at www.Facebook.com/iQuiltStudio.
