Cultural dancers show appreciation

The youth depicted much excitement and appreciation for the traditional attire donation.

In celebration of Youth Month, Umdoni Municipality’s mayor, Clr Mbali Cele-Luthuli, donated traditional attire to the Ushuni WaseMzinian all-youth traditional dance group from Amandawe.

The group made a request to the municipality for attire assistance recently, and the mayor found it fitting to extend a helping hand in the month South Africa’s youth is celebrated.

“Our municipality advocates for the development of the youth,” said Cele-Luthuli.

“It was therefore imperative for us to positively respond to their request and give honour to our commitment of youth development.”

Umdoni’s youth council chairperson, Thami Zwane, was present at the handover and mentioned that this Youth Month, they are also concentrating on the theme of sport.

“We want to make sure that the youth engage in activities and sports like our traditional dancers and occupy themselves with such things rather than engaging in other activities that are not good for them or their futures,” said Zwane.

The jovial youth depicted much excitement and appreciation for the donation and celebrated in dance and song as their way to say thank you to the mayor and the municipality.
