Four killed in shoot-out with police in Harding

A businessman who withdrew an undisclosed amount of money from a bank in a mall was robbed.

Four people were shot dead in a shoot-out with police in Harding early this morning (June 10).

A team comprising of officers from Hawks, K9 and other Saps units received information about a robbery which was to be carried out at a mall in Harding.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda said a businessman went into a bank inside the mall and withdrew an undisclosed amount of money. As he made his way out, he was accosted by the suspects who robbed him of the cash.

“Police approached the suspects and they allegedly defied police orders and opened fire. Police returned fire and they were fatally wounded. Police are still searching for more suspects who fled the scene, ” said Col Netshiunda.

A firearm as well as the stolen money was found in their possession. Police are pleading with anyone with information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of the outstanding suspects must contact the police station or call the Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
