David Marks, Tyran Roy, Guy and Nibs – what a musical collective for KZN South Coast

Southport and Leisure Bay will host some talented South African musicians this Sunday.

South Coasters will be spoilt for musical choice this Sunday, June 9.

At 13:30, internationally acclaimed guitar maestros, Nibs van der Spuy and Guy Buttery, will reunite for a KZN exclusive concert at TO Strand, Leisure Bay.

Anyone who’s ever witnessed a ‘Guy and Nibs’ performance will remember a tight synergy of fluid and interwoven musical tapestry.

From 14:00, 3rd Ear Music invites you to its inaugural South Coast Singer and Songwriter project taking place at Die Local/Down the Rabbit Hole (the old Castaways), 10 Ocean Dr North, Southport.

Hosted by the legendary David Marks, the event will feature local musicians Tyran Roy, Kellen Crystin and others.

Marks is a South African-born songwriter, singer, producer, music archivist and publisher who has been a member of the South African music industry since the 1970s. He spent much of his early career mixing, recording, releasing and archiving a broad cross-spectrum of South African music.

He achieved success with his songwriting, penning some international hits, most notably Master Jack, Mr. Nico, and Hey Mister.

Some 55 years ago, he attended the famous music festival, remembered simply as Woodstock in New York.

He is also known for his work as a sound engineer and director of the 3rd Ear Music Company.

Well-known South Coast musician, musical archivist and sound enginer David Marks was part of the sound crew at the Woodstock Music and Art Fair in 1969.
