Mass steri drive this weekend

There will be a jumble sale at St Mike's beach to raise funds for South Coast Ferals this Saturday, May 4.

A mass drive to sterilise some 80 feral cats will take place in St Mike’s this weekend.

There will also be a jumble sale at St Mike’s Beach to raise funds for South Coast Ferals this Saturday, May 4.

Any second-hand items are also welcome. Contact Lynn on 072 4351819.Small Paws on the Coast (NPC), Transkei Animal Welfare Initiative (TAWI) and Phoenix Animal Care and Treatment (PACT) have collaborated to run a series of sterilisation days which started in February and will end with a big spayathon in May, where 80 feral cats will be spayed on one weekend.

They will be teaming up to catch the cats with local feeders, Trudie Roets, Marissa Booyse and Antoinette Anderson.

This sterilisation campaign was started to strategically tackle colonies in Shelly Beach, Uvongo and Margate.

Once these areas are under control, efforts will expand to surrounding areas.

Organisers are trying to raise money for petrol costs as members from PACT will be driving down from Durban.
